My new friend Laura and I have been running together since late January, and yesterday we ran a 5K.
This might be the first time since college that I’ve exercised consistently; having a running partner has made all the difference in keeping me accountable and motivated.
The best part is that I actually enjoy it. No, I don’t love running, but I don’t hate it anymore either. What I love are all the benefits of it. I enjoy our long chats when we run together a couple times a week. I love that I’ve lost all my baby weight and then some—with plans to lose about ten more pounds. (I’m already thinner than I’ve been in years.) Most of all, I love the way I feel. I have so much more energy and can tell that my body is healthier.
Up next—no, not a 10K just yet. Maybe another 5K at a pace faster than ten minutes a mile!

Go you! I started running last summer and have run four 5k’s now… was planning to run a 10k last month but had some medical issues which prevented it. Planning Disney Princess 1/2 marathon Feb. 2012. Have also lost weight and thinnest in years but like you just love how strong and healthy it makes me feel. I also thought I would hate running but a friend talked me into doing the couch to 5k program with her and I’ve surprised myself by loving it!
Yay! Did I inspire you:) I am going to try to run today for the first time since Christmas. Cross your fingers for no migraine.
You look awesome (as always) but really awesome! Love you tons.
I knew you looked good, but having lost baby weight PLUS some – that’s impressive… way to go!!
Good for you, Rachel! Watch out. I predict you’ll be signing up for a half marathon soon. Once you get the “bug” – even if you have the love/hate relationship with running – it’s hard to contain yourself
.
And I love all the updated posts. Both boys are getting so big – and are more handsome than ever. Can’t wait to meet them both in a few short months!
You look awesome Rachel! Great job with running a 5k. I ran my first last year, and you inspired me (with the losing all your baby weight comment) to sign up and try and do one again this winter or late fall! Miss you guys!
