I do apologize for that title, but Sarah stole the first line of Michael W. Smith’s ubiquitous song, and, as she intended, it’s now stuck in my head. (Incidentally, that “fertile soil” phrase has got to be one of the weirdest lyrics ever penned.)
OK, on to my point. Our good friends Dave and Sarah came to visit us from Cincinnati last weeked! It’s just a five-hour hop away–that’s nothing between friends.

Just some of the highlights of the weekend: eating banana-pecan pancakes at Oak Tree, shopping on Michigan Avenue, going out to eat with Barry and Alyssa for the world’s best pizza at Gino’s East, getting rained on in Millennium Park, and taking a million and one pictures of our reflections in the Bean (see above). Fun times! And the best part of all, of course, was seeing our boys meet for the very first time. They loved each other! Jackson could not get enough of Judah. He just wanted to hug him, kiss him, massage his feet, and pinch his cheeks. Exhibits A, B, C, and D:
But sometimes Jackson loved Judah a little too well. Exhibit E:
Despite some minor casualties, it was a great weekend. It was so nice to spend time with our old friends and their precious, happy, giggly little son. We can’t wait until it’s our turn to make the road trip to visit them in Cincinnati!

ha ha ha ha
I’m sorry – that last picture is a riot. It looks SO much worse than it really was, too. Poor Judah. He took a lickin’ from Jackson and still managed to like him by the end of the weekend. How is that so?
I loved the recap of what we did. Oh, those pancakes. They were delish.
And the picture of Jackson grabbing Judah’s cheeks is really funny. Getting caught in the rain was lots of fun!
Can’t wait to see you in Cinci soon!

[...] This was also the first time that Jackson and Judah were properly introduced. (They’ve seen each other numerous times on the web cam) Jackson was a little excited to be around another baby and kept grabbing at Judah’s eyes, ears, head – whatever he could get his little hands on. Poor Judah thought he was being mauled and there were some tears within the first hour of our arrival. After he warmed up to Mr. Handsy (and after Dave and I had to hold Jackson’s hands), they seemed to love each other. You can see more pictures of them playing here. [...]

Yeah, really, who came up with fertile soil of you? Awful.
Loved the recap – that last picture is hilarious. I’m glad you guys had such a great time!

Funny… I always thought it was “the fertile soil of youth”
